Tonight my family and I will be participating in the Relay for Life walk as team "Teal We Find A Cure." This is our second year participating in the event. If you have never been to a Relay event, you really should go to one. Prior to attending last year, I had envisioned this to be a very somber and sad event. However, what I learned is that it is really full of inspiration and hope. We became involved in Relay because we lost my Aunt to a long battle with Ovarian Cancer. After losing her (and my beloved grandfather earlier) to Cancer, I just felt really powerless but Relay helped change that somewhat. My family and I have lost some life changing and devastating battles to cancer, but Relay helped me take some power back. I loved spending time with my family and knowing that we were continuing to fight cancer in honor and memory of those who can't anymore. Through that night, I felt real hope that we will find the cure to cancer.
I want to send out a big thanks to everyone who has donated to our team. We are so proud to be able to do this together and so proud of every penny we have raised!
And to my Aunt Cheryl, Uncle Kevin, Dear Friends Dale Hammond, Carole Hammond and Carol Maclary, and to my grandfather Lester....tonight is for you!!!
