Our Anniversary Weekend

Last weekend marked Danny and I's 7th wedding anniversary.  It's hard to believe that it has only been 7 years and it's hard to believe that it's been 7 years already!! Dan and I have known each other our whole lives. We met at Lake Forest North Elementary school in the second grade.  In fact, in third grade Danny and I become "romantically" involved for the first time and were boyfriend and girlfriend.  I can't remember exactly how long that "relationship" lasted but if memory serves me correct, he was my boyfriend for 5 whole days!!
Danny and I
Throughout elementary school Danny and I remained friends and then drifted apart somewhat in middle school.  Dan was a band nerd (lol...you know I love band nerds honey:-) and I was very involved in cheerleading and dance.  We reconnected in our junior year of high school and became best friends.  We spent a ton of time hanging out together (we both had other significant others) and Danny would pick me up in the mornings and take me to school.

In our senior year we were lab partners in chemistry.  I have to tell you that that class was the bane of my existence and the only reason I made it through was because Danny was my lab partner and the teacher really liked me.  The only chemistry that I learned about in that class was between Dan and I.  It wasn't long before we were spending more and more time together and I broke up with my boyfriend.  Immediately following my break-up, Danny asked me to prom and, as they say, the rest is history.

Sorry, about the quality of the pic.  It's a picture of a picture from our wedding day.
We have been through a lot of life together and there were times when no one would have thought that we could make it (including us) but we have weathered every storm together and are honestly even more in love today.  I feel truly blessed that my childhood sweetheart is also the love of my lifetime.

We celebrated our anniversary by heading to Sea Isle, NJ for the weekend.  Danny's Aunt and Uncle have a permanent sight at a campground there and we were able to bunk with them for the weekend.  Dan and I have been going there for vacations for years and we just love it.  It was the perfect weekend.  We were able to take the kids to the ocean and to the lake, go for long walks, spend some time napping and reading and even got to go out for a special anniversary dinner in Cape May without the kids (thanks Aunt Carol and Uncle Doug!).  It felt like a true vacation.

Monday, I had to go to Rehoboth for a work conference (this doubled as the perfect little mommy vacay because I got to stay overnight).  It was a fabulous conference and made even better by the fact that it was at the beach and I was able to spend a lot of time with my co-workers from my previous job whom I still miss every day.  My current co-worker and I had a room that was literally right on the boardwalk.  We squealed like little girls when we saw the view and had a wonderful time getting to know each other better.

Dan and the kids met me at the beach on Tuesday night and we were able to take the kids to the rides.  I adore Funland at Rehoboth beach!  I love that my children are able to ride the same rides that both my husband and I and our parents rode as children.  And the best part is, that it is STILL affordable!   It was a rough start for Colton. He was terrified on the merry-go-round and didn't want anything to do with the boats.  However, he finally showed some interest in the fire trucks. We put him on and then we could not get him off.  He threw a fit every time the ride stopped.  He soon learned that if he got off of a ride he was able to get on a different one and proceeded to ride a bunch of them with an adorable grin on his face. Brynn loved all of the rides and has decided that she is a big girl now and doesn't need Mama or Daddy to ride with her. Sigh...this is going too fast!

It was a great weekend (and Mommy vacay)!  It's going to be hard to do actual work today!  But...at least I can look forward to camping with my family this weekend:-)  I love summer!
